Noelle Stoffel

Painting has been a way to journal various feelings and events in my life.

This body of work is a collection of my thoughts and reflections after a medical mission trip to Romania. My role there, was to do art therapy with children in a Botosani hospital. Emotion as well as aesthetics play a role in this works' development. Traveling is a big part of my artistic enrichment. My work is motivated and steered by the unique visuals, dreams, and the relationships formed in environments where not constrained by expectations and identity. Working with the children of Romania invigorated my life and influenced my painting.

Unveiled

Images of the beautiful orphans, communicating with a hearing and speech impaired teenager, watching a roomful of sick children’s faces radiate when given a chance to express themselves; all of these experiences play an undeniable role on the canvas. Reflecting on events with appreciation and emotion cultivates the progression and energy of this work. In addition, architecture, metal, shapes and surfaces of other works inspire the textures of my paintings. Many layers were integrated with various applications of wax, paint, and medium to result in these intimate pieces, all of which serve as a map of internal and external journeys.
